Participating in Research

Overview

There are numerous opportunities at IND for patients to participate in a variety of research studies. During the past year, over 1,0000 individuals participated in our research program. While many of these research participants are from New England, nearly half of our participants travel from throughout the United States and Canada to play a part in our research program.

This is a very exciting period for neurological research with many new therapies being evaluated in clinical studies, and many more are in the pipeline. In particular, we are on the brink of initiating novel clinical studies, which offer the potential to develop mechanisms to slow neurological disease or even restore neurological function. This will be accomplished through combining the use of new and innovative imaging techniques with evaluation of treatments aimed at slowing the progressing of neurodegeneration.

Research Requires Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for clinical trials that lead to the next generation of medications to treat neurologic disease and to develop better methods of diagnosing disease. Medications that are currently available have been developed through the dedication of research participants in the past, without whom the progress we have made would not have been possible.

Who Can Participate?

Research studies at IND are seeking both participants with and without neurologic conditions. Healy volunteers are important to research outcomes. Specific criteria are used to determine eligibility. These criteria are used to identify whether a specific study is appropriate for the participant and to ensure each individuals’ safety.
